Muskies slip against Carnegie Mellon
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, September 6, 2008 - The Muskingum men's soccer team fell 3-2 against Carnegie Mellon University at the Fuzzy Williams Memorial Tournament hosted by Bethany College Saturday.
Freshman Ian Stipes and senior Drew Untied each scored goals for the Muskies. Stipes headed home the first goal off a corner kick to put the Fish up 1-0. Carnegie Mellon responded with two unanswered goals to take a 2-1 edge. Untied tied the game with a header in the 51st minute but Carnegie Mellon scored the game-winning tally in the 59th minute.
Carnegie Mellon held a 26-12 advantage in shots and 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Junior keeper Chris Limle and sophomore keeper Matt Seas split time between the pipes and recorded a combined seven saves.
Muskingum (0-3) hits the pitch next when they play Bethany College on Sunday, September 7, at 4:00 p.m.
