Muskies run at OAC Championships in Marietta
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, November 1, 2008 - The Muskingum cross country teams competed at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Marietta College at the Broughton Nature & Wildlife Education Area Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Katie Smith paced the women and junior Ian Hankins led the men. [men results] [women results] [photo gallery]
Hankins paced the men by finishing in the 73rd position out of 141 total runners with a time of 29:03.17. Next among the Muskie finishers was freshman Micheal Besl who placed 86th at 29:26.57. Freshman Jeff Shawver finished in the 111th slot at 30:46.11, while freshman Adam Bird came in 121st place at 31:41.92. Freshman Peter Craig came across the finish line with a time of 34:05.96 to round out the top five Muskie runners.
The women were paced by Smith who finished in the 82nd position out of 117 total runners at 27:35.17. The next Muskie runner was freshman Jennifer Drennon who finished in 87th place at a time of 28:10.30. Sophomore Hallie Nesselroad crossed the finish line with a time of 28:40.28 and in the 92nd position, while freshman Bethany Dulaney was right behind Nesselroad in the 93rd position with a time of 28:47.01. Rounding out the top five Muskie runners was senior Lauren Jackson who finished with a time of 29:17.06 (96th).
Ohio Northern finished in first place for the men with 39 points, while they also placed first among the women with 56 points.
The Muskie men finished in tenth place with 306 points with an average time of 31:00.75. The women finished in tenth place with 291 points and an average time of 28:29.97.
The NCAA Regionals are set to be held on November 15 at Otterbein College.
