Graduate Admission: Praxis Examination Requirements
for Master of Arts in Teaching
Below is a matrix describing the PRAXIS test requirements for each MAT licensure area. All MAT students are required to take the Praxis I (or equivalent) and II examinations as part of the Muskingum College admission process. (Please refer to MAT Gateways to Admission/Degree Completion for details on admission to the MAT program).
It is recommended that you register for any PRAXIS exam at least 5 weeks prior to the administration date. Test scores are typically returned to you (and to Muskingum College) 6-8 weeks following the exam. Therefore, we suggest you take all required test at the earliest possible date to prevent any delay in the completion of your degree or licensure.
During your first year as a teacher you will also be required to take the entry year performance based assessment in Ohio, PRAXIS III: Classroom Performance Assessment.
Please visit the Educational Testing Service (ETS) website for further information, sample tests and for registration at www.learningandorganization.org.
