Boda named Third Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-American
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, May 15, 2008 -
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced that Muskingum College freshman first baseman Mary Margaret Boda was named Third Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-American. This is the ninth straight year that a Muskie player has earned All-American accolades.
Boda, a First Team All-Central Region honoree and the Ohio Athletic Conference Bob Jordan Rookie of the Year, is batting an outstanding .423 with 58 hits, 37 RBI, 12 doubles and eight home runs. She carries a .686 slugging percentage and has scored 38 runs. Additionally, Boda leads the 11th-ranked Muskies with 18 multiple hit games and a .500 on-base percentage.
Previously this year, Boda was named First Team All-OAC, to the All-OAC Tournament squad, to the NCAA All-Regional Tournament team and the Muskingum William F. Lange Outstanding Female Freshman.
A total of 14 players have been named All-American under Head Coach Donna Newberry's tenure. They include Mary Margaret Boda (2008) Mandy Carnes (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003), Nicole Blubaugh (2003, 2004, 2005), Kari Hoying (2006, 2007), Erica Hoyt (2003, 2004), Kim Tackett (2005), Amy Iammarino (2005), April Rader (2004), Shauna Jellison (2004), Carla Kampschmidt (2001), Jennifer Segner (2000), Kris Naegele (1992), Chris Sheaffer (1992) and Kate Titus (1990, 1989).
