Course Outline/Schedule
Course Description and Objectives: Sensation and Perception surveys the relationship between the various sensory modalities and behavior. The emphasis is on the interaction between such variables as basic sensory neurophysiology, environmental factors, personal experiences, and the ultimate process of perception.
Text: The text for this semester is "Sensation and Perception, 7th ed." by E. Bruce Goldstein, and the accompanying "Virtual Lab Manual" by Janet Proctor, which are available in the College Bookstore. On-line Resources are also available from the publisher.
Evaluation
Your grade in the class will be based on your performance on 4 exams covering material from the text, lectures and lab projects. Your regular attendance at class and lab, contribution to classroom discussion, and written lab projects are also important parts of this course and will contribute substantially to your grade.
If for any reason you are unable to take a quiz or an exam at the scheduled time, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to inform me (by phone or email) in advance. Students are expected to make arrangements with me to take the exam at an alternate time prior to the next class meeting.

- Four Exams [100 pts ea]---400 pts
- Ten Lab Projects [40 pts ea]---400 pts
TOTAL---800 pts
Grade: The letter grade you receive will be based on a percent correct basis (of 800 possible points) using the following scale:
- 93% & above: A
- 90-92%: A-
- 87-89%: B+
- 83-86%: B
- 80-82%: B-
- 77-79%: C+
- 73-76%: C
- 70-72%: C-
- 67-69%: D+
- 63-66%: D
- 60-62%: D-
- below 60%: F
